Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth (Japanese: 世界樹の迷宮V 長き神話の果て Labyrinth of the World Tree V: End of the Long Myth) is a dungeon-crawler RPG for the Nintendo 3DS, released in Japan in August 2016, and internationally in 2017. It is the overall seventh title in the Etrian Odyssey series, and the fourth entry on the Nintendo 3DS.

Gameplay

In common with previous games in the series, in Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth, you can create a team with up to five characters to use as you progress through the game. The main gameplay consists of fighting monsters and mapping out each area as you progress with optional quests and items that you can find.

Etrian Odyssey V features a total of 10 playable classes, all making their series debuts.

Unique to Etrian Odyssey V is the concept of different playable races. There are four races in the game–Earthlains, Celestrians, Therians, and Brouni–each having a number of classes associated with it. When creating a new character, players first choose the character's race, and then their class. Races affect the stats and appearance customisation options of a character, as well as which race skills they have access to. While a character, upon creation, cannot have a class their race does not have default access to, it is possible to access another race's classes after creation via Alter Class.
