Union Skills

Union Skills are a game mechanic in Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth that closely resemble Limit Skills from Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City.

Overview

Every guild member, regardless of race, starts knowing the four common Union Skills, and can invest skill points to learn their race-exclusive Union Skills. All race-exclusive Union Skills, like Race skills, only require a single skill point to unlock, and the strength of some Union Skills scale with the level or stats of the initiating party member.

To use a Union Skill, only the initiating party member must have a full Union Gauge. If that Union Skill requires more than once participant, you will need to select cooperators from the rest of the party - cooperators can participate even if they have an empty Union Gauge. If a party member is already cooperating with another Union Skill, they cannot initiate their own Union Skill nor cooperate with another for this turn. Union Skills trigger at the start of the turn, and can be used in addition to the party member's normal action for the turn. Once executed, all participants' Union Gauges are completely drained.

Union Gauge

The party's Union Gauges are refilled to 100% whenever they leave the labyrinth, ensuring they start an expedition on a full gauge.

Every time a party member takes an action, the gauge fills by a random amount between 5% to 15%.[1] This occurs even on turns where a Union Skill is initiated.

The Phantom Duelist Fencer's Dodge Boon grants bonus Union whenever they dodge an attack, with no upper limit to how much can be gained. The Omnimancer Warlock's Life Siphon triggers for every skill that hits an enemy's weakness, including offensive Union skills and their delayed Altar skill, potentially leading to a maximum of 33% Union Gauge in a single turn.

If a party member dies, their current Union Gauge is halved. After a victory in battle, all surviving party members gain 5-15% Union Gauge.

Double Attack

Two allies attack one enemy with their equipped weapons.

Enemies that are out of range of a given ally's weapon will not be attacked by that ally.
  • The attack is melee range with every weapon.
  • Damage scales based on the user's level.
  • Each hit uses the properties of each participant's equipped weapon, including any elemental imbues.

Fully restores the party's HP, even from death. Also removes binds/status ailments.

The party comes together to create an extraordinary panacea.
