Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth (Japanese: ペルソナQ2 ニュー シネマ ラビリンス Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth) is a spinoff game belonging to the Persona series, which is part of the larger Megami Tensei series.

Story

Gameplay

The gameplay largely follows the same dungeon crawling and combat mechanics as Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth.

Rather than choose which protagonist to follow from the beginning of their journey, the player automatically starts controlling Joker and the Persona 5 cast, with the Persona 3 Portable Heroine entering midway into the 1st Labyrinth. The cast from Persona 4 will only join up in the middle of the 2nd Labyrinth, and the Persona 3 cast within the 3rd Labyrinth.

Gameplay changes

  • The three physical types (cut/stab/bash) are condensed into a single Physical element.
  • Two additional magic elements were added: Nuke and Psy.
  • Light and Dark are renamed Bless and Curse, and are used for the damaging Kou- and Ei- spells respectively in addition to the instant death Hama- and Mudo- spells. Bosses now have vulnerabilities to Bless and Curse (as opposed to blanket immunity), though Hama- and Mudo- spells will still fail to work on them.
  • Each main Persona can learn up to six skills, and the player has control over which skill they can discard when a main Persona learns a new skill while at their limit.
  • Skill Cards now come in two variants: Blank Cards and Wild Cards. Both are used in sacrificial fusion to transfer a skill from the sacrificed Sub-Persona. Blank Cards are used when the sacrifice is empowering a Sub-Persona, while the rarer Wild Cards are used when the sacrifice is empowering a main Persona.
  • All-Out Attacks are triggered once all enemies are knocked down by exploiting their weakness or landing critical hits, and is no longer dependent on the number of Boosted party members. If an All-Out Attack delivers the finishing blow, the active party receives 20% more EXP.
  • Quests reward 50% bonus EXP to designated characters if they are part of the active party.
