EO3/South Sea/Trade City of Ugarit

- It is said the trade city of Ugarit was founded in ancient times by trade ships passing westward. A great sea dragon threatened the city in the Calamity. -Sea Quest description
The Trade City of Ugarit is located in the northeast corner of the South Sea, but its perimeters are barred off by currents that sweep away approaching ships. The easiest way to approach it is through route from the North Sea.
There is a route straight from Armoroad to Ugarit, requiring a 24-turn ration and the Latin Sail.
- Sail north, west twice, bumping against the landmass where Skandalia Lighthouse is.
- Sail north, west, and then south onto the current.
- Sail south twice and west twice, stopping just in front of the whirlpool.
- Sail south then west. Sail north five times. You may notice the black pirate ship in the way; pass a couple turns by pacing back and forth so that it moves out of the way.
- Sail east, then south and then west to dock at Ugarit.
There's another route from the 4th Foothold, requiring a 24-turn ration and no sails. You may need the Carronade as well to take out any pirates that block you.
- Sail north twice, then west 3 times onto the current.
- Shoot down the pirate ship if it obstructs you.
- Sail east, south twice, east once, and then south until you cross back into the South Sea.
- Sail directly south (but stop just in front of the current) and then sail west until you reach Ugarit.
For getting there, the harbormaster rewards you with 16,000en and the Elephant Turtle, a 28-turn ration. It has the highest number of turns among all the rations you can find, though it's also quite expensive.
Side Quest
Return to Ugarit and the trader will ask for Ivory. This is found in the North Sea, sector A-5, hidden behind the reef tile among the currents. You'll use up two turns acquiring the ivory. Bring it to the trader for an Ivory Netsuke, Platinum Money, and Weapon Tome VIII.
Sea Quests
Sea Quests at Ugarit pit you against the Leviathan.
Defeating the Leviathan for the first time unlocks the Lucky Hammer Limit Skill in place of the usual rewards.
The late adventurer
- I came here from the west to see Yggdrasil, but the sailors fear to sail to the ocean city, because of all the monsters and pirates.
- I hear some skilled adventurers have found a safe route, though.
- I've been stuck here quite some time, but those adventurers could take me to the ocean city, right?
Companion:
- Squire (Level 73 Hoplite, front row)
Squire has Antifire and Anticold to deflect the Leviathan's elemental attacks, can predict which skill to use, but tends to neglect them unless someone's at 60% HP or lower. He can Shrug Off any binds he's got and use Overwatch and Bodyguard to guard anyone afflicted with Plague that might be targeted by Overeat. He also has three Amrita IIs on hand. Somewhat reliable, but bring your own Hoplite to compensate for his shortcomings.
Completing this quest for the first time earns you Squire's Shield (Shield, 61 DEF,
)
In search of treasure
- Have you heard of a sea dragon in the water near Ugarit? I hear its blood can heal any sickness.
- I'm healthy as a horse, but if it's a rarity, I need to get my hands on it!
- Last time didn't go quite as planned, but I'm sure this time'll be different! ...I think!
Companions:
Toma has twenty Medicas, five Medica IIs, three Medica IIIs, three Amrita IIs, and ten each of Theriaca A and B. He serves as your item-healer, tries Sympathy Pain to inflict any of his ailments back on the Leviathan, but otherwise will defend if there's nobody to heal.
Dezerte prioritizes purging buffs with Ad Nihilo, clearing debuffs with Inspire, and protecting the front with Prevent Order. She also has three Medica IIIs and five Amrita IIs, but will only use them on herself. She also neglects the back and won't cast her buffs there.
Between your companions you have a good source of support, so bring damage to progress the fight. You may need to field your own Sovereign to cover the back where Dezerte does not.
Completing this quest for the first time earns you Dezerte Armor (Heavy Armor, 100 DEF)
Veterans needed!
- —Monster Subjugation Request—
- This is the Ocean City Marines 7th Platoon. We have recently sent two of our fines to defeat a monster wreaking havoc in the western seas.
- However, it seems we underestimated the beast. We request the aid of any seasoned adventurers.
Companions:
- Sumitomo (Level 72 Buccaneer, front row)
- Taquion (Level 69 Zodiac, back row)
- Minamo (Level 68 Monk, back row)
Each companion has three Amrita IIs. Taquion and Minamo also have an additional Amrita III.
Sumitomo will pile on damage with Pincushion but only use Eagle Eye to clear the Leviathan's defense buff. Minamo can block its elemental attacks with his Fire Prophecy and Ice Prophecy skills but mostly prefers to exploit its weakness with Ice Star. Minamo is the healer and will keep the party topped up, unbound, and plague-free. Bring damage and/or support to round them off.
Completing this quest for the first time earns you the Sumitomo Brace (Accessory,
)
