EO3/South Sea/Trade City of Batavia

- The trade city of Batavia has long had ties to Armoroad. It connects Armoroad to distant lands, but strange occurrences have been taking place lately... -Sea Quest Description
The Trade City of Batavia is located off to the southeast of Armoroad. Its most discernible feature is its windmill. A pirate ship patrols its waters, threatening to sink anyone that enters its patrol range.
Equip the Foremast you just got from the harbormaster for reaching Skandalia Lighthouse, and any 16-turn ration you have.
- Sail east for 1 turn (2 spaces) and then head south for 5 turns (10 spaces), bumping against the landmass.
- Sail east once, then north over the current. Sail east again and then directly north to reach the destination.
Securing a route to Batavia earns you the Sauerkraut, a 20-turn ration that further increases your exploration range. You also gain 700en. The pirate ship near Batavia will also disappear, making return trips much easier.
Side Quest
On returning to Batavia, the locals will ask you to retrieve Black Pepper from a ship that crashed in the reefs to the east. This can be found in sector D-7 of the South Sea - ride the east current just north of Batavia and keep going east until you hit land. Turn south facing the reef tile to find the goods.
Your reward is a 500-en Coin and Weapon Tome IV.
Sea Quests
The sea quests here take the form of three consecutive battles:
- 2 Sea Lobsters and 2 Red Puffers
- 3 Sea Lobsters and 3 Red Puffers
- Cruel Roamer as well as any 2 Summoned Sea Lobsters or Red Puffers
Defeating the Cruel Roamer for the first time unlocks the Second Wind Limit Skill instead of the usual reward.
The strength of bonds
- Me, at bar, get drunk, said beasts stronger than fish. But me not need drink to say that.
- But they laugh! Me show them. Me and beasts fight fish. We need ship driver.
Companion:
- Bergman (Level 16 Wildling, back row)
Bergman comes with three Medicas and two Amritas to help himself and your party in a pinch.
His main strategy in the fight is use Call Cow to smash through the waves of foes, and support with Primal Drums or Beast Roar to weaken them afterwards. If the Cow falls to low health, he can recall it with Dismiss Beast before bringing it back to the field.
Bergman's a competent and self-sufficient AI member and you can get away with nearly any team composition so long as you have the ability to attack multiple enemies at once. You may want to put only two members in the front row so that his cow is summoned into the front to do maximum damage.
Completing this quest for the first time earns you Bergman's Spear (Spear, 18 ATK,
)
Fruit of recovery
- My name is Giles. My wife Agatha and I own a farm here, and times have been tough. But...
- We've harvested a brand new fruit. All we need is a ship to trade it on, but Batavia is closed! Help us!
Companions:
Giles comes packing with five Medicas which he will use on anyone who's hurt. Agatha has no items on her.
If there's nobody to heal, Giles will try to put the entire enemy party to sleep with Lullaby, which is quite ineffectual and tends to put him to sleep and leave him unable to support the party for a few turns. Agatha may be a more competent damage dealer who will use Rush to carve through the enemy waves, but she will run out of TP rather quickly, and neither have any Amritas to top themselves off. Bring a balanced party - preferably a healer and at least one damage dealer.
Completing this quest for the first time earns you Giles's Hoe (Club, 52 ATK,
)
My first quest
- I'm Mau Mau. My friends and I snuck onto a ship to get to Yggdrasil, but we were caught... At this rate they'll throw us in prison!
- But if we can defeat the monsters at Batavia, we can use the reward to pay off the passage. Someone, please help us!
Companions:
- Ace: (Level 12 Buccaneer, front row)
- Visen: (Level 11 Zodiac, back row)
- Mau Mau: (Level 11 Arbalist, back row)
This team has the makings of good Chase synergy. Ace will ready his Chase Fire every turn, and will follow-up on Visen's Binary Fire and Mau Mau's Fire Barrage, tearing through the enemy waves leading up to the Cruel Roamer. Both Visen and Mau Mau each carry an Amrita to continue the offense, but none of the trio have any HP-restoring items. A Hoplite and Monk to help keep the team alive will do wonders.
Completing this quest for the first time earns you Mau Mau's Bow (Crossbow, 51 ATK,
)
