EO3/South Sea/Giant's Ruins

From Etrian Odyssey Wiki
These ruins of the giants are said to have been made before the Great Calamity. Previous explorers claim to have been attacked by stone giants. -Sea Quest Description

Tucked away in the southeast corner of the South Sea is a set of stone ruins known as the Giant's Ruins (named Ruins of the Giants in the DS version), but it is surrounded by currents that sweep ships right into deadly whirlpools.

Navigation

You need the Foremast, Culverin, and a 20-turn ration. The Foremast is your reward for reaching Skandalia Lighthouse, the Culverin from making a second trip to Tortuga Island, and the second upgrade slot for bringing the Ayutthaya shipwright home.

  1. Sail east once, then south five times, bumping against an island with a yellow rock.
  2. Sail west once and south once, drawing the attention of the pirate ship. Shoot it down.
  3. Sail south once then east once and ride the current.
  4. Sail east three times. Sail south to the sea border, then north two times so that you stop just before the current. Sail west and check in at the Giant's Ruins.

The harbormaster rewards you with the Naval Iron Ram on your return, allowing you to sail over seaweed patches. You also earn 2000en.

Sea Quests

Each Sea Quest set at the Giant's Ruins involves a fight with the Golem.

Defeating the Golem for the first time unlocks the Aegis Barrier Limit Skill in place of the usual reward.

Return to the Giant's Ruins after defeating the Golem to discover Weapon Tome VI.

Historian puglist

My name is Bongaro, a historian of Armoroad. But I used to be a bare-fisted monk, and I haven't lost my touch.
So they asked me to get rid of a giant statue guarding the ancient ruins of an island out there.
"No problem!" I told them... But I don't know much about it. So I could use a guild's help.

Companion:

  • Bongaro (Level 42 Monk, front row)

Bongaro is a punchy Monk who can do a lot of damage with his Breakfire Fist, and he's intelligent enough to not walk into the Golem's Reflection. He knows Healing but will only use it on himself but not the party, and comes with three Amrita IIs so that he can keep attacking. Bongaro's a very independent damage dealer, so you have free rein of your choice of party for the remaining slots.

Completing this for the first time earns you Bongaro's Singlet (Light Armor, 52 DEF, )

Fashion trendsetter

Can you belieeeeve it? I met this total stud equipped from head to toe in obsidian armor.
I'm going to need some cute armor to match, but armor from the tree place is sooo last spring.
...That's why I need someone to escort me to the ruins.

Companions:

Dezerte carries three Medica IIs and three Amrita IIs. Knuckle carries three Amrita IIs.

Dezerte will buff up her new boyfriend with her Attack Order and sometimes purge the Golem's Regen with Ad Nihilo. Knuckle will repeatedly Charge up a Freezing Blow. Unlike Bongaro, his AI can walk him into Reflection damage, though Dezerte knows to stay out of trouble. Bring a healer.

Completing this for the first time earns you the Dezerte Crown (Helmet, 31 DEF)

Cygnal sisters

I'm a fortune-teller specializing in ice. But you know what? Ice sucks. It's so cold!
My sisters and I argue all the time over who's element is more worthless, but I know I'm right!
So, please! Come with me and let me prove to them once and for all that ice is the lamest element!

Companions:

  • Ruby (Level 40 Zodiac, back row)
  • Sapphire (Level 39 Zodiac, back row)
  • Amber (Level 38 Zodiac, back row)

Each of the sisters carries three Amrita IIs.

You're escorting the Cygnal Sisters, each one specializing in an element. Each one will repeatedly use Etheric Charge and their respective elemental Star to unload elemental damage onto the Golem. Their synchronized Charged Stars can usually let them safely pile on elemental damage as the Golem tends to raise Reflection on their Charging turns, but if they all hit on a Reflection turn, this can bring their offensive pressure to a sudden halt. Bring someone with Resurrect, or a supply of Nectars, as a safety net, and a Hoplite would be good to provide physical defense.

Completing this for the first time earns you Sapphire's Book (Book, 65 ATK, )
