EO3/North Sea/Trade City of Aeaea

From Etrian Odyssey Wiki
Aeaea prospers as the gateway to the north. However, a monster with the appearance of a beautiful woman has cut its communication to the south... -Sea Quest description

Aeaea is located at the northwest corner of the North Sea but is nearly impossible to approach directly due to the surrounding currents and land formations.

Navigation

Click to reveal navigation solution

You need a 24-turn ration, the Latin Sail, Iron Naval Ram, and the Steel Plating to get there. The Latin Sail is obtained from reaching the Tower of Victory in the overworld and the Porcelain Forest in the Labyrinth.

  1. From the 3rd Foothold, sail west once, then sail south until you bump into land.
  2. Sail west two times, then south once, then west one more time. Sail south until you bump into an island.
  3. Sail west once, north twice and bump into the island. Circumvent it by sailing east once, and continue north three times, passing behind Damavand.
  4. Sail west four times and then north once more to dock at Aeaea.

An alternate route exists, needing the same setup:

  1. From the 3rd Foothold, sail west once, north to the border, and west to the landmass.
  2. Sail south two times, then east two times, putting you south of the Geomagentic Pole.
  3. Sail north and get stopped by land, and east to the island at the border. Now sail west two times, and north once. You should now be in a great position to navigate the currents.
  4. Sail west once, south once, west once, north once to get through the currents separating you from the northwest corner of the map.
  5. Sail west four times. You should bump into the shores of the Northern Continent.
  6. Sail south once, west two times into the seaweed, and north once to dock at Aeaea.

On arrival, you will be greeted by a soldier who introduces himself as Glaukos. The harbormaster will reward you with 14,000en and the Carronade, an upgrade to the cannon that can shoot down black pirate ships.

Side Quest

Return to Aeaea to get asked to retrieve Cacao and Armoroad Cane. Armoroad Cane is found in a small island south of the Giant's Ruins. Cacao is found on the island directly north of the Marine City of Sheba. Bring both back to Aeaea and you will receive Circe Chocolate, Platinum Money, and Weapon Tome V.

Sea Quests

Sea Quests set at Aeaea pit the player against Scylla.

Defeating the Scylla for the first time unlocks the Quintessence Limit Skill in place of the usual rewards.

For a mutated girl

I am Glaukos, soldier of Aeaea. I'd like to ask you ocean city adventurers for a favor.
I need to borrow your strength... to defeat the monster threatening Aeaea...
There's not much else I can tell you, but... it's just something I have to do... for her sake.

Companion:

Glaukos himself comes to request your aid in securing Aeaea's waters. He'll start with Call Tiger to bring in a Tiger to tank hits for the party. In between he'll support with Beast Roar and Primal Drums, while the Tiger will pile on damage through counter-attacks. Glaukos has three Medica IIs and two Amrita IIs to keep himself fresh.

Your defenses are nicely covered, so bring a healer, especially those that can block and cure ailments or binds. Bring someone who knows Otori to draw Cry Soul towards the tiger to trigger many counterattacks.

Completing this quest for the first time earns you Glaukos's Lance (Spear, 145 ATK, )

Stargazers II

We Zodiacs borrow the power of the stars. That is the basis of our livelihood.
That is why I'd like to see the Curtain of Stars in the northern lands, to develop my power.
Someone, please take me to Aeaea up north.

Companions:

  • Castor (Level 64 Zodiac, back row)
  • Pollux (Level 63 Monk, back row)

The Star Brothers are back, and stronger than before. Unfortunately, Castor hasn't changed away from his Fire Star specialization and won't be hitting Scylla's weakness. Pollux, on the other hand, is pretty good at keeping your party in good condition. Each brother has three Amrita IIs to stay in the fight. Bring your damage dealers that can actually exploit Scylla's weakness.

Completing this quest for the first time earns you Castor's Book (Book, 100 ATK, )

Don't cross the bridge/Slow and steady

I am Schlaf, leader of the Pale Horses.
Our creed is "safety first", but everyone calls us cowards.
They're wrong! We are adventurers! We will prove it by taking on this request to subjugate a monster!

Companions:

  • Schlaf (Level 62 Farmer, back row)
  • Norfolk (Level 62 Farmer, back row)
  • Boolz (Level 61 Farmer, back row)

You read it right, the super-prepared Guild Pale Horse are all Farmers. They hog the back row and defend, only using healing items on your guild members where appropriate. They each pack ten Medicas, five Medica IIs, three Medica IIIs, ten Amritas, and ten each of Theriaca A and B, so the guild is very well-prepared. When Scylla falls to low health, they'll begin chipping away with normal attacks, which can deny you the Curse damage conditional drop if you're not careful. Fill the remaining two slots with your best damage dealers or defense, you'll need it.

Completing this quest for the first time earns you the Pale Horse Gun (Gun, 122 ATK, )
