EO3/North Sea/Dark Forest
- The legendary Dark Forest was thought to be a myth, but it was finally found by an adventurer. It is, however, just as terrifying as the stories said... -Sea Quest description
You need to have reached the 2nd Foothold and acquired the Iron Naval Ram by reaching the Giant's Ruins. Once you do, the point of interest is just a stone's throw away, accessible in just eight steps from the Geomagnetic Pole.
The harbormaster rewards you with 1800en for reaching the Dark Forest. He'll also ask to get you a Steel Plating upgrade, but you must also have reached the Molten Caves before that part becomes available.
Sea Quests
Sea Quests set in the Dark Forest pit the party against a wave of three Mistletoe before the fight with the Manticore proper. The Mistletoes will poison the party with a 150-damage poison if they die, so aim to kill them all in one turn so that the poison can't hurt you too much.
Defeating the Manticore for the first time unlocks the Regroup Tactic Limit Skill in place of the usual reward. This Limit makes rematches with the Manticore a lot easier. You can then return to the Dark Forest from the sea overworld to find Weapon Tome II.
In search of battle
- So a primitive island has been discovered called the Dark Forest, home to countless lurking beasts...
- Guess that means I'll have to go take care of them all myself. I've never been much for teamwork.
- Unfortunately, I don't have a ship. Can someone ferry me to the island?
Companion:
- Cortana (Level 45 Gladiator, front row)
Cortana is a fairly competent Gladiator who can keep ailments off himself with White Flame and mow down the opposition with Rampage. If there are any binds, he'll follow through with Bind Cut and if you've gotten ailments on anything he'll add Wolf Howl to reduce its defenses. He also has three Amritas to keep him going. Bring your own support and damage to aid him.
Completing this quest for the first time earns you Cortana's Mace (Mace, 119 ATK, 
)
The secret cure
- I've heard the miracle fruit, the Devil Gourd, can be found at the recently discovered Dark Forest.
- With that, I might be able to concoct a medicine that could heal any number of illnesses.
- But my assistant and I are doctors, not skilled warriors. Please guard us as we gather the fruit.
Companions:
Your companions are both healers and have the skills needed to keep your party topped up or free of ailments with a level 6 Refresh. Field your choice of front-line damage dealers to make the most of their support. Just make sure to bring some Theriaca Bs of your own to cure ailments from them too.

- However, the sporadic attacks of the fell beasts here have made our numbers dangerously low. We request immediate assistance!

- Ibahd (Level 45 Sovereign, front row)
- Doster (Level 43 Hoplite, front row)
- Suvaron (Level 44 Gladiator, front row)
This formation looks and behaves similar to Victoria and her guards. Ibahd keeps the front line buffed with Attack Order, Protect Order and Prevent Order, though he prioritizes the last of it less often than the other two. Doster mainly uses Line Guard and Bodyguard to shield his allies, while Suvaron will be trying to inflict panic with Crushing Blow that can buy a few free turns against the Manticore. Bring one support and one damage dealer to round off the frontline.
