EO3/North Sea/Aerial Forest

From Etrian Odyssey Wiki
The divine Elder Dragon has finally appeared to you, after you have overcome so many trials. If you can defeat it, your names will be writ in history... -Sea Quest description

The Aerial Forest is a mysterious floating forest found on an isolated island in the west side of the North Sea, surrounded by currents that sweep away any that dare to approach.

Navigation

Click to reveal navigation solution

Do not use any sails, as precise movement is needed to navigate the currents surrounding the island. There is a route that requires a 24-turn ration:

  1. From the 4th Foothold, sail north 5 times, then west 3 times, riding the current down.
  2. Sail west, north, and west to the border, north twice, and then east to ride the current north. This should place you behind the black pirate ship.
  3. Sail north four times to get around the whirlpool, then east twice and ride the current going south.
  4. Sail east once and south once to ride the short southbound current.
  5. Sail east to reach the Aerial Forest.

The harbormaster will reward you with 20,000en. If this is the final point of interest you've visited, he'll also congratulate you for fully restoring Armoroad.

Side Quest

Once you reach the Aerial Forest, the Elder Dragon will congratulate you for reaching it, and unleash the Dragon, Drake and Wyrm as its trials. If you haven't gained access to the Cyclopean Haunt yet, it will turn you away, only announcing its trials after you've completed the game on any route and loaded clear data. Once this has happened, new events will sprout up across the Labyrinth. You must best each of the dragons once to raise your level cap and gather the key items for the final trial.

The Drake is found on B18F, and its events involve Wealh who seeks to defeat it herself. Travel to the floor where you formerly had to avoid three Mortal Hunters. Wealh will want to prove her worth by fighting the dragon, and if you insist on staying, she'll send you to the Armoroad inn to find her Dragonslayer weapon. The innkeeper will reveal there isn't one — return to the room to find Wealh dying at the Drake's hands. Take the opportunity to avenge her.

The Dragon is found in a secret room on B4F, unlocked with the Moon Key. But first, a guard will warn you of a swordsman who has attempted to challenge it and failed. He'll advise you to speak to Lindworm at the Armoroad inn. Lindworm will give you the Dragon Bell which you can then use at the secret room to summon and challenge the Dragon.

The Wyrm is found in B11F. Its events feature Hiiragi & Agamede. Travel about the floor and pull out three stones scattered about the floor that's keeping the Wyrm sealed. They're found in sectors C-1, A-4, and D-7. The Wyrm will emerge at the 3x3 platform at sector C-6.

Once you've defeated all three dragons, return to the Aerial Forest and show the Elder the proof of your strength. This finally unlocks the Aerial Forest Sea Quests. The harbormaster will also notify that your old allies are gathering to help you overcome this trial.

Sea Quests

Your final Sea Quest pits you against the Elder Dragon, one of the game's superbosses and the final Sea Quest boss.

Defeating the Elder Dragon for the first time unlocks Immortal, the final Limit Skill, in place of all other rewards.

I shall aid you

To [Guild]: You will fight the divine dragon? My master's search continues, but I owe you so much. Call on me, and I shall answer it.
That is the way of the ninja. I may not be of use, but I shall assist.

Companion:

  • Kirikaze (Level 95 Ninja, back row)

Kirikaze has taken a break from helping her master and now is returning the favor. She'll use Bunshin/Ninpo: Double to split up and try and keep the Elder Dragon's legs bound with Kagenui/Shadow Bind, and then unleash Tagen Battou/Drawing Slice when there's no more room for clones. Each instance of Kirikaze has two Medica IIIs and four Amrita IIs.

You'll need to bring your own sources of head and arm binds to stay in the game. If you have a Wildling, make sure that Kirikaze does not barge into the 6th slot and deny the animal companion.

Completing this quest for the first time earns you Kirikaze's Kunai (Knife, 124 ATK, )

Me return favor

Me at bar. Me drink. But me hear that [Guild] take on Aerial Forest from Toma.
You help me, so me help you this time. Toma coming too. Maybe we not so good at this, but we make good meat shield.

Companions:

  • Toma (Level 93 Farmer, back row)
  • Bergman (Level 92 Wildling, back row)

Toma's got a half-full pack with ten Medica IIs, ten Medica IIIs, and eight Amrita IIs. He'll use them to keep your party fresh, and if the Elder Dragon's head is not bound, he'll attempt to re-bind it with Strange Seeds. Bergman, however, is the real carry of the fight, as he has the full suite of Call Bird, Call Snake, and Call Mole for nearly-guaranteed binds on the Elder Dragon, prioritizing head over arm over leg binds. Once the Elder Dragon is fully bound he'll support with Beast Roar and Primal Drums, and he's got three Medica IIs and seven Amrita IIs to keep himself going.

With Bergman keeping the Elder Dragon down this is the easiest of the Elder Dragon Sea Quests to beat. Fill the last three slots with your choice of damage or healers.

Completing this quest for the first time earns you Bergman's Mask (Helm, 53 DEF, Wildling only, )

Princess and crew

I hear you are to challenge the divine dragon... Did you know dragon-slaying is a royal task?
Besides, being helped all the time hurts my royal dignity, and the two I met at the harbor happen to feel the same. We will fight with you!

Companions:

Each companion carries five Amrita IIs, and Victoria also has three Medica IIIs.

Victoria will keep the front row healed and buffed up with Attack Order, Guard Order and Protect Order. Zaby will use Pincushion as her primary damage output and switch to Hanging for a head bind. Nerona will keep an arm bind down with Arm Crusher and spam Nine Smashes otherwise.

While the frontline is decent and can bind head and arms, their damage output can be found wanting despite their high level and top-end gear. Compensate with either healing, your own binders, or another damage dealer. If you must bring your own frontline damage, have them swap places with Victoria on the very first turn so that they will also receive Victoria's buffs.

Completing this quest for the first time earns you Victoria Sword (Sword, 156 ATK, )
