EO2/Yggdrasil Labyrinth

The Yggdrasil Labyrinth is a massive multi-floor dungeon discovered within the Yggdrasil that grows over High Lagaard. Legend has it that a mysterious floating castle hovers over the giant tree, and that the ancestors of High Lagaard's people descended from this castle. The Duke of High Lagaard has taken interest in the floating castle, opening the labyrinth for adventurers to explore in hopes of seeking a way to the castle.
The labyrinth is separated into several five-floor strata, each one resembling a different biome and playing host to different monsters.
Ancient Forest

The Ancient Forest is the first area of the labyrinth. A vast, dense forest, home of a diverse ecosystem. It seems that a pack of ferocious deer have taken residence on the lower reaches. The path leading deeper into the forest is guarded by the fearsome beast knew as the Chimaera, whose strength is enough to bring monsters that are supposed to live only on the upper reaches of the labyrinth.
Auburn Thicket

A forest composed mostly of maple trees, the seemingly aflame Auburn Thicket is the second area of the labyrinth. Traversal of this area is made difficult by terrain that inflicts damage just for passing through. This is where the Salamox makes its nest, and the exit is guarded by the dangerous Hellion.
Frozen Grounds
- Main article: EO2/Yggdrasil Labyrinth/Frozen Grounds
The leaves of fall give way to a snow-covered tundra that comprises the Frozen Grounds. Environmental hazards includes slippery ice that sometimes becomes too thin to support the weight of the party in the day. This is also where the party confronts the Scylla, a monster with a tragic link to Guild Esbat.
Petal Bridge
- Main article: EO2/Yggdrasil Labyrinth/Petal Bridge
The Petal Bridge is the highest reaches of the Yggdrasil, and the final area before the flying keep. Damage tiles make a return here, as are hidden pitfalls that serve to undo your progress or point the way forward. The higher floors comprise of isolated platforms that require floating lifts to carry the party between them.
The place is home of the highly intelligent humanoid tribe known as the Bird Folk, a native tribe to the forest which worships the Overlords and brings the bodies of fallen explorers to him as offerings. While Canaan, the winged ones' leader, is willing to help the explorers to reach their master's home, they must first prove themselves by defeating the tribe's enemy, the Harpuia.
Heavenly Keep
- Main article: EO2/Yggdrasil Labyrinth/Heavenly Keep
Legend has it that the remnants of humanity retreated to this floating castle when the Calamity struck, only returning to the land once it became habitable again, with the castle vanishing into myth through the passage of time. The Heavenly Keep is one of these floating castles, and host of the fabled Holy Grail that is said to cure any disease. This place contains extremely advanced technology, seemingly originating from a bygone era.
Here the Overlord makes his final stand. Unwilling to let the explorers take the fabled artifact, he rallies his army against them, leaded by the immensely powerful Colossus. On his throne room atop the fortress, he awaits the challengers for a fierce final battle with the Holy Grail as the ultimate prize.
Forbidden Wood
- Main article: EO2/Yggdrasil Labyrinth/Forbidden Wood
The Overlord's throne is a teleporter that leads to the floating islands surrounding the Heavenly Keep. Host to some of the Overlord's most dangerous creations, the Forbidden Wood is not meant for humans to traverse, as it stays sealed through multiple layers of security. Only with the assistance of the winged ones is the party able to undo this seal to fully explore it.
The "stairs" linking the floors of the stratum are teleporters that lead back and forth across the floating islands, and the Forbidden Wood itself proves difficult to navigate, with teleporter mazes that can change based on the time of day, a massive swath of damage tiles, and a giant one-way passage maze. At the very end is the Overlord's deadliest creation, the End-Bringer, who is said to be the origin of the monsters that populate the labyrinth.
